Training
Many people who come along to join the sailing club have done little or no sailing before...maybe on holiday or at school etc. Some may be returning to sailing after a number of years away from the sport and would like to brush up on their rusty skills. Another important area for training, is people who join, and would like their children to learn. Whatever the circumstances we are in the fortunate position of being an RYA training centre.....visit their website at: www.rya.org.uk
Any new member or potential new member coming along to the club will be advised on the best way to acquire training, if needed, also what type of equipment is required, ie buoyancy aids, clothing, boats etc. although you do not need a boat to get started, as we have a number of boats that can be hired at a very reasonable cost.
Although the club has racing on Wednesday nights (in summer), Saturday and Sunday's, it is possible for members to go out and practice at anytime the club burgee (flag) is flying and more importantly the safety boat is manned......again for those who just want practice in an informal way, usually in the summer months, members....adults, children can come along on any sailing day for a practice but Saturday afternoons in summer there will be experienced instructors on hand.
